Introduction

Hello! My name is Vincent Van Hoof and I’ve been working in the game industry since 2010 as an artist.

Originally, I was born in Belgium, but I moved to the beautiful and rainy Pacific Northwest when I was around 5.

I’ve been drawing since I was around 2 years old and I basically never stopped. There’s just something about crafting your own worlds through art that can’t be replaced in my life.

Career

Since graduating I’ve worked on various freelance projects and games as an artist, around 70. These projects ranged from board games, card games, films and video games.

While I started out my career as a concept artist, I slowly transitioned to an illustrator and now I’m primarily a 2D artist and game developer, working on many aspects of bringing a video game to life. Everything I’ve done has built up a unique skill set that has led me to creating worlds from scratch, truly my dream job.

In 2020 I co-founded Gardenfiend Games where I wear many hats of various sizes and colors. Thankfully I am lucky enough to work full time on our incredible projects.

I am the sole artist for the studio, so I’d say that’s my primary role. But I work on several other aspects such as writing, game design, level design and business management.

We are currently working on Perennial Order.

Inspiration

There are many other’s work that inspires me on a daily basis. Chris Rahn, Lucas Graciano, Ryan Pancoast, Jason Rainville, Adam Paquette, Jesper Ejsing and Jamie Jones just to name a few. There are too many artists to list.

I was fortunate enough to have the legendary Magic: The Gathering artist Mark Tedin as one of my illustration instructors in college. These artists are the the foundation of the spark that leads me to try to be the best version of myself that I can be.
